The Adalbert Raps Library offers books for a broad target group. The book of the month January "Spices - The Standard Work" by Dr Manuela Mahn reflects this perfectly. It is suitable for hobby cooks as a recipe and basic book, but also for professionals as a reference work - all levels will find what they are looking for here. The author, Dr Manuela Mahn, is also a lecturer, among others at the Spice Sommelier of the Genussakademie Bayern, for which the Adalbert-Raps-Stiftung awards three scholarships annually in honour of the founder, Adalbert Raps.
As a spice and food expert, she provides an insight into the world of spices in around 320 pages and offers 140 matching recipes. At the beginning of the book, knowledge about spices is provided, including explanations of terms and basics, and the cultural history of spices is presented. The following section on kitchen practice provides an insight into the production of spice mixtures, the most important kitchen utensils and the production of marinades and spice oils.
