Butcher's Wenisch: Through the crisis with a butcher's app and delivery service

In addition to his work in the family business of Metzgerei Wensich, 27-year-old butcher Stefan Wenisch is the founder of the premium meat brand "Holy Beef". He keeps around 100 steers and 20 suckler cows on the 300-year-old Muggenthaler farm. The family's butcher's shop has four branches in and around Straubing. Sales losses due to coronavirus are particularly noticeable in the butcher's wholesale business. However, the Genusshotel Wenisch and Restaurant Toni's, which are run by Stefan's brother and are part of the company concept, have also been severely affected by the temporary closures. - But especially in these turbulent times, the family sticks together and shows solidarity!

Together, they are increasingly offering delivery services and the butcher's range has also been expanded to include dishes from the Toni's restaurant - and they can do a lot: in less than 80 minutes, they were able to sell 150 portions of ribs via the gourmet hotel's web store. The dishes were then delivered to the customers without contact.

The family also takes a creative approach: at Easter, brunch packages could be ordered via the butcher's app. With Easter ham, smoked salmon, white sausages, asparagus salad and cream soup, ox cheeks, wild garlic spaetzle, fresh market vegetables, desserts and other delicacies, nothing was left to be desired. - It is therefore not surprising that good sales increases were achieved with the end consumer, which can partially compensate for the loss of the wholesale trade.

Apart from such campaigns and measures, the implementation of which is also planned for the future due to the great popularity, the company is sensing a clear shift in thinking towards regional suppliers, as these offer stability locally. Naturally, the family hopes that this will continue in the long term. The family would also like to further expand the technical possibilities with the butcher's app in the future.

In these difficult times, Stefan Wenisch proves his greatness with an extra portion of solidarity and comes particularly close to the idea of Trüffeljagd : all emergency services personnel can pick up a Leberkäse or cheese sandwich from the butcher's shop on presentation of their service ID.
