Social bet successfully completed

With 30 out of 30 bets won and 240 new volunteers for Upper Franconia, the "social bet" hosted by the Adalbert-Raps-Stiftung is a complete success.

The "social bet" of Adalbert-Raps-Stiftung ended last week with the conclusion of the last betting partnership. All participating organisations can now be happy not only about the newly won helpers for their respective commitment, but also about the well-deserved bet in the total amount of 31,500 euros.

Strengthening voluntary work throughout Upper Franconia

30 non-profit organisations have responded to Adalbert-Raps-Stiftung 's call for bets on the "social bet" since the initiative began in September 2020 and surprised everyone with their unprecedented commitment! Because since the successful conclusion of the last betting partnership at the beginning of this month, it is clear that all bets have ended in favour of the participating organisations. This means that the foundation is providing a total of 31,500 euros in prize money as funding. In addition to the bets, however, the organisations are probably most pleased about the new volunteers themselves. A total of 240 new volunteers were recruited for Upper Franconia as part of the "social bet". 12 for the Hof region, 19 for the Wunsiedel district, 20 for Coburg, 10 for Kronach, 28 for Bayreuth, 46 for Kulmbach, 29 for Forchheim and 70 for the city and district of Bamberg. In addition, 6 new volunteers are now committed to the Upper Franconia regional association of the Malteser Hilfsdienst e.V. Although the individual betting partners would only have had to recruit three new committed volunteers to reach the betting target, the participating organisations were each able to inspire an average of eight helpers for their project. "We are overwhelmed by the large number of participants and the commitment of the citizens of Upper Franconia," said Frank Alexander Kühne, Chairman of the Foundation. "This has brought us another step closer to our goal of strengthening civic engagement in Upper Franconia. The 'social bet' is a great success for us!"

With a gameification approach to success

Supporting civic engagement and thus strengthening social participation in Upper Franconia is a top priority for Adalbert-Raps-Stiftung . In addition to its funding activities in the classical sense, the foundation pursues this goal with ever new creative approaches and specially initiated programmes. The "social bet" initiative made this clear once again: for example, in the period from September 2020 to March 2021, Adalbert-Raps-Stiftung bet that organisations would not manage to recruit at least three new volunteers to support their services within a period of three months. In line with the gameification approach, which serves to increase motivation, the foundation challenged organisations with its betting announcement to actively search for possible supporters and to inspire them for the respective voluntary work. As is usual with a bet, the "social bet" of Adalbert-Raps-Stiftung also involved an attractive wager in the form of financial support of up to 1,400 euros per bet. If the betting condition was met with the third volunteer won, the organisation received financial support in the amount of 500 euros. For every fourth to sixth volunteer won, the Foundation donated an additional 100 euros and for every seventh to tenth new supporter even 150 euros. The Foundation released a total of up to 42,000 euros in funding as part of the bet.
