"Wanna bet...?!"

Adalbert-Raps-Stiftung uses the "Social Bet" to promote the profit of volunteers

1.10.2020

"Want to bet that your organisation will not manage to recruit at least three new volunteers to support your services within a period of three months? - With this bet, Adalbert-Raps-Stiftung challenges non-profit organisations in Upper Franconia to find new supporters for volunteering and thus once again advocates for the strengthening of civic engagement in the region.

"Social bet" to strengthen civic engagement

Supporting civic engagement and thus strengthening social participation in Upper Franconia is a top priority for the Adalbert-Raps-Stiftung . The "social bet" initiative makes this clear once again: the foundation bets that organisations will not manage to recruit at least three new volunteers to support their services within a period of three months. In line with the gamification approach, which serves to increase motivation, the Foundation's bet challenges organisations to actively search for possible supporters and to inspire them to take on the respective voluntary work. As is usual with a bet, the "social bet" of Adalbert-Raps-Stiftung also involves an attractive wager in the form of financial support of up to 1,400 euros per bet. If the betting condition is met with the third volunteer won, the organisation receives financial support in the amount of 500 euros. For every fourth to sixth volunteer won, the foundation will donate an additional 100 euros and for every seventh to tenth new supporter even 150 euros. The wager is available to the organisation for free use in accordance with its purposes, but it may not be spent on remuneration for the volunteers.

Become a betting partner and profit - This is how it works:

Until the end of the current calendar year, non-profit organisations can apply to become betting partners by submitting an informal expression of interest at info@raps-stiftung.de, contact Tina Beeg, at Adalbert-Raps-Stiftung . The prerequisite for this is that the sphere of activity of the respective organisation is in Upper Franconia and that they strengthen the social and societal participation of their target group with their offers and services. After this requirement has been positively checked and the foundation has given its approval, the betting partner only has to fill out a profile of the organisation and its commitment. The betting period is then agreed with the betting partner and extends over three months from the start date, whereby this must be in the current calendar year 2020. The decisive factor for determining the winnings is the total number of newly committed persons per organisation. The newly engaged persons also include supporters who were previously only passive members, ideal supporters or similar and now wish to become actively involved, as well as members already active in the organisation who take on a new office or participate in a new area of responsibility/project. As proof of the bet, the participating organisations must submit photos of the volunteers who have won a position in the respective area of responsibility, as well as a corresponding description of their tasks, no later than 14 days after the end of the bet. The betting partnerships are limited to ten for the time being and will be awarded after receipt of the applications.

Katharina-von-Bora Senior Citizens' Centre: provider of ideas and first betting partner

The original idea for the "social bet", however, did not come from the Foundation itself, but from Mr. Michael Wagner, facility manager of the Katharina von Bora Senior Citizens' Centre of the Diakonisches Werk Bamberg-Forchheim e.V. While he entered into his bet last year on a very small level with the Board of Directors of the Diakonisches Werk Bamberg-Forchheim e.V. Dr. Kern and the Member of Parliament Mr. Dremel and was able to decide it. Kern and the Member of the Bundestag, Mr. Dremel, and was able to win, this year he turned to Adalbert-Raps-Stiftung. The background: Due to the low number of active supporters for the project "Senior Citizen's Rickshaw", it is his declared goal, together with his team, to triple the number of active volunteers from five to fifteen by the end of 2020. The bet with a symbolic stake was intended to create a greater incentive. The foundation itself, which has set itself the task of strengthening civic engagement, liked this approach so much that it created the "social bet" initiative from the original idea. With the creation of a financial wager, this is now open to all non-profit organisations in Upper Franconia. The Katharina-von-Bora Senior Citizens' Centre is therefore not only the originator of the idea, but also officially the first betting partner of Adalbert-Raps-Stiftung since 1 September 2020.
