With its support activities in the social sector, the Adalbert-Raps-Stiftung pursues one goal: social participation should be a matter of course and accessible to all people regardless of their individual living conditions! The foundation's commitment is not limited to its historical location in Kulmbach, but is active in all Upper Franconian districts and thus also in Bayreuth. Since 2015, Adalbert-Raps-Stiftung has supported a total of 40 organisations and 84 projects in the city of Bayreuth with funding totalling around 546,000 euros. On the occasion of the most recent support, a follow-up grant for the project "Homework support and care for children in the Bayreuth community accommodation for refugees" of the city of Bayreuth, Lord Mayor Thomas Ebersberger acknowledged the commitment of the foundation today, Wednesday, 12 May 2021, in the context of a symbolic tablet handover.

Symbolic tablet handover to Lord Mayor Thomas Ebersberger on the occasion of current "homeschooling" project

With a new grant of 6,645 euros, Adalbert-Raps-Stiftung is supporting the further development of the project "Homework support and care for children in the community accommodation for refugees Bayreuth" of the city of Bayreuth, which was already started last year. On the occasion of this commitment and the general promotion of social participation by Adalbert-Raps-Stiftung in Bayreuth, a press conference with a symbolic handover of tablets took place today, Wednesday, 12 May 2021, at 2 p.m. in the town hall. Mayor Thomas Ebersberger paid tribute to the Foundation's commitment: "Volunteering is a great enrichment for the common good. Achieving a goal together connects people and lets them experience community. As a city, we support this voluntary work in many ways - for example, through a full-time integration guide who coordinates the work of the volunteers, trains them and works with them on an equal footing to shoulder innovative projects such as 'homework support and care for children in community accommodation'. The fact that the city is supported by funds from Adalbert-Raps-Stiftung opens up even more comprehensive possibilities - we appreciate this commitment very much.

Civic engagement in the field of refugee aid in Bayreuth

The project "Homework Support and Care for Children of the Community Accommodation for Refugees Bayreuth" of the City of Bayreuth, which was awarded the Integration Prize of the Government of Upper Franconia, was launched in 2020 in response to the Corona-related school closures. The goal was and is to enable the children of the shared accommodation for refugees in Bayreuth to homeschool and have a structured daily routine. In this first round of funding, the project was supported with funding of 1,000 euros from Adalbert-Raps-Stiftung , which was used to rent appropriate rooms from "Come and See e.V." and to ensure supervision of homework and guided leisure activities by students. With the further development of the project this year, the foundation approved a follow-up grant of 6,645 euros. The funding was used to create WLAN access and to enable digitalisation through the purchase of tablets. Like many other initiatives, this project makes it clear that civic engagement in the area of refugee aid is once again gaining in importance in times of the pandemic: "Due to Corona, we are facing special challenges in the area of refugee aid. The people are already disadvantaged by their fate, which is marked by flight and uprooting. The fact that the three shared accommodation facilities in Bayreuth do not have internet access and most of the parents do not speak German means that the topic of homeschooling cannot be implemented for the school children and vocational school students. With the support of Adalbert-Raps-Stiftung , we can now make homeschooling possible as far as possible. That's encouraging," says Ibukun Koussemou, full-time integration coordinator for the city of Bayreuth.

Longstanding support for social commitment in Bayreuth by the Adalbert-Raps-Stiftung

Since 2015 until today, Adalbert-Raps-Stiftung has supported a total of 40 organisations and 84 projects in the city of Bayreuth with a funding amount of around 546,000 euros. "Within the scope of our funding activities, it is our aspiration to enable all people to have access to social participation. The added value for society as a whole that comes from supporting social engagement is indispensable. Cohesion in urban society is strengthened and gaps in provision are closed. In order for social engagement and its importance for society to remain sustainable, recognition, respect and trust towards the actors are needed. Through our support, we would like to provide financial assistance, but also to give the socially committed precisely this recognition," says Florian Schneider, Director of the Social Foundation. In addition to numerous smaller sponsored projects, it is for example projects and initiatives such as the micro fund for the city of Bayreuth, the projects of wundersam anders e.V. and Schoko e.V. on the topic of democracy education for children and young people, the prevention work against sexualised violence in institutions such as kindergartens or schools of AVALON e.V. with the counselling and emergency call centre against sexualised violence or the integration work for people with a refugee and/or migration background of the integration pilot of the city of Bayreuth that have received support from the Adalbert-Raps-Stiftung . They take up important topics and start exactly where support is urgently needed in terms of social participation.
