AI madness: an expert sheds some light

Kulmbach,10.10.2025. As part of the first "Heinersreuther Perspektiven", the Adalbert-Raps-Stiftung hosted an exciting AI event at the Heinersreuther Hof. Expert Christoph Magnussen offered exciting insights into the world of AI. www.raps-stiftung.de

"Keeping up with the AI madness" was the title of a lecture evening organized by the Adalbert-Raps-Stiftung on 1 October at the Heinersreuther Hof. Around120 interested people from the fields of business, public authorities, research, politics, non-profit organizations and society did not want to miss the opportunity to listen to AI expert Christoph Magnussen (Blackboat) from Hamburg.

AI tourist or application world champion?

What makes a good prompt? Why shouldn't I confuse ChatGPT with Google? What are the possibilities, but also the limits of AI? Am I an AI tourist or an application world champion? Christoph Magnussen covered an impressive range of topics from the steel industry to the iPhone, from schools to the world of work, from children to professional users. His aim: to dispel prejudices. "AI will not go away as a basic infrastructure. Some bubbles will burst, but it won't go away." Magnussen therefore advocated taking responsibility and trying things out.

In an exponentially changing world, it is not advisable to think in linear terms. It is about understanding the nature of technology. "In Germany, I would like us to say - when a technology is new and perhaps frightening - 'Okay, what can we do? For example, companies need to consider how they will use AI in the future, what new skills will be added and how these will be distributed. "With the help of AI, a specialized specialist will become a supercharged generalist," explained Magnussen. It's about making everything more productive, for more turnover with the same people, "and not through redundancies." The advantages: The chatbot allows you to do things you couldn't do before (augmentation). And the AI does things without you having to watch the whole time (autonomy).

ChatGPT goes by probability

However, anyone who thought that AI would do all the work is mistaken, because: "If your data is in chaos, no AI agent can save you!" said Magnussen. You also have to abandon the idea that the AI actually understands what you tell it. "The model doesn't see the word, but so-called "tokens" and calculates the highest probabilities." This is why it is essential to finally check AI-generated texts.

The more precise and detailed a so-called "prompt", i.e. the search command to the chatbot, is formulated, the better the result in the end. ChatGPT should not be confused with Google. "If you ask the classic "9-word question, you will be disappointed with the result." And if you do everything right and the database provided fits, analyses or evaluations can be created in no time at all, freeing up space for more creative activities.

AI also harbors dangers

Of course, AI also harbors dangers and you can get up to mischief with it. Avatars communicate deceptively realistically, liability and copyright issues still need to be clarified and the potential for addiction is enormous: a study conducted by Common Sense Media in 2025 found that 33% of teen users already choose AI over a human when things get serious. This is alarming, which is why AI expert Christoph Magnussen also advises: "Never let children use AI alone!"

Advancing the region

And what does the Adalbert-Raps-Stiftung have to do with AI? "We have a responsibility and want to promote the region, and AI is part of that," explains Frank Alexander Kühne, Chairman of the Foundation. "We don't actually support AI projects in Upper Franconia, but want to provide impetus and support exchange."
