Selection phase for the "Rickshaws for Upper Franconia" funding call of Adalbert-Raps-Stiftung successfully completed.

7.10.2021

The decision has been made: Upper Franconia's new rickshaw locations have been decided! Within the framework of the call for proposals "Rickshaws for Upper Franconia", launched in support of Radeln ohne Alter Deutschland e.V., Adalbert-Raps-Stiftung called on social and non-profit organisations to apply for one of a maximum of 13 funded rickshaw locations. The response was impressive! A total of 28 applications were received during the application period from mid-July to the end of August 2021. After intensive examination of the documents and numerous selection interviews, 13 organisations have now been chosen to be Upper Franconia's rickshaw location, offering people with limited mobility an extended range of mobility options and thus giving them a better quality of life.

Adalbert-Raps-Stiftung Expands Upper Franconia's mobility offer with 13 new rickshaw locations

In support of Radeln ohne Alter Deutschland e.V., Adalbert-Raps-Stiftung launched the funding call "Rickshaws in Upper Franconia" in mid-July 2021. From then on, social and non-profit organisations were invited to apply as one of up to 13 funded rickshaw locations in Upper Franconia until the end of September 2021. After careful examination of the 28 applications received and numerous selection interviews, the 13 supported rickshaw locations in Upper Franconia have been determined:

  • Elisabteth Verein Pottenstein e.V. - District of Bayreuth
  • Hilfe für das behinderte Kind gGmbH - City of Bayreuth
  • Wilhelm Löhe Senior Citizens' Centre (Diakonisches Werk Bamberg-Forchheim e.V.) - City of Bamberg
  • ASB Regionalverband Coburg e.V. - Coburg District
  • AWO Multigenerational House/Project Group Stadtmacher - City of Coburg
  • alt&weise gGmbh - District of Hof
  • Caritasverband für Stadt und Landkreis Hof e.V. - City of Hof
  • BRK Bürgerhospital (BRK Kulmbach District Association) - Kulmbach District
  • AWO Kirschenallee (AWO Kreisverband Kulmbach e.V.) - Kulmbach district
  • Diakoneo Competence Centre - District of Forchheim

  • Neighbourhood support point "Living in the home" Altenkunstad (Caritasverband für den Landkreis Lichtenfels e.V./Regens Wagner Burgkunstadt) - Lichtenfels district
  • Large district town of Selb - Wunsiedel district

All 13 new rickshaw locations will not only be equipped with their own rickshaw by Adalbert-Raps-Stiftung , they will also receive further important support: This includes, for example, information on the necessary insurance cover, qualification of the volunteers including the provision of training documents, workshops for the acquisition of volunteers, support in the development of a usage and hygiene concept as well as access to the network "Rickshaws for Upper Franconia", a platform for the exchange of experience. The implementation measures are accompanied by Radeln ohne Alter Deutschland e.V. The coordination officers for civic engagement (KoBes) or the engagement officers of the respective region also provide support. They help to publicise the independent engagement centres as pilots of the rickshaws.

Great need for mobility offers in the target group

The large number of applications received makes it clear that the need for mobility offers is definitely present in the target group and that the topic has a relevance that is not to be neglected. As simple as the idea behind the "Rickshaws for Upper Franconia" concept sounds, the social impact is huge! Socially committed people go on excursions to the surrounding area together with people with limited mobility. In addition to the helpers, rickshaw drivers and passengers needed to organise the trips, they also need a rickshaw. People with limited mobility are thus given the opportunity to interact with other people and the environment and experience themselves as part of society again - social and societal participation is promoted. As a result, they gain a bit more quality of life. The rickshaw excursions with the rickshaw drivers create shared moments of happiness and memories, enable the exchange of life stories and give the passengers the feeling that they can actively shape their everyday lives. Last but not least, this also has an effect on improved health and well-being. The rickshaw tours counteract loneliness and the feeling of being excluded.

Setting up the locations: Kick-off event and stabilisation from mid-October onwards

Although the decision on the 13 Upper Franconian rickshaw locations has already been made, the project management for the funding tender "Rickshaws for Upper Franconia" is far from finished! With the kick-off event in mid-October, the concrete implementation will begin. "The real task now is to solidify the concept behind 'Rickshaws for Upper Franconia' in the individual organisations and to set up the locations accordingly," says Tina Beeg, Foundation Officer Social Affairs. "At this point, we are very pleased to be able to rely on the support of Radeln ohne Alter e.V. as well as that of the coordinating officers for civic engagement (KoBes) or the engagement officers of the respective region." Citizens who would like to participate in the development of the rickshaw site in their region are cordially invited to contact Adalbert-Raps-Stiftung at info@raps-stiftung.de.
