Aspart of the initiative "Rickshaws for Upper Franconia", Adalbert-Raps-Stiftung calls on non-profit and social organisations to apply for one of a maximum of 13 supported rickshaw locations in Upper Franconia. The concept behind "Rickshaws for Upper Franconia" is very simple: socially committed people go on excursions together with people with limited mobility in the surrounding area, enable social participation and in this way provide a little more quality of life.

Adalbert-Raps-Stiftung makes rickshaw sites ready for take-off

In addition to the helpers, rickshaw drivers and passengers needed to organise the implementation, what is needed is of course a rickshaw. The rickshaw locations selected after a verified application are not only equipped with their own rickshaw by the foundation, they also receive further important support: this includes, for example, information on the necessary insurance cover, qualification of the volunteers including the provision of training documents, workshops for the acquisition of volunteers, support in the development of a usage and hygiene concept as well as access to the network "Rickshaws for Upper Franconia", a platform for the exchange of experiences. The application management as well as the implementation measures are accompanied by Radeln ohne Alter Deutschland e.V. (Cycling without Age Germany).

The most important information in brief:

  • The idea: The concept behind the "Rickshaws for Upper Franconia" is very simple: (volunteer) pilots take people with limited mobility on excursions in the surrounding area.
  • Object of funding: A maximum of 13 suitable rickshaw sites will be funded. One suitable location will be selected for each Upper Franconian district and independent city (note: districts and their independent cities are evaluated individually). In addition to the rickshaw itself, the locations also receive other important support for a successful implementation of the concept.
  • Who can apply: Applications are open to social and non-profit organisations from the Upper Franconia region that would like to give people with restricted mobility (mobility) freedom, joy of life and quality of life. These can be, for example, senior citizens' and care facilities, - facilities for people with disabilities, welfare organisations, district/family centres or multi-generation houses, senior citizens' offices, senior citizens' meetings, parishes, associations as well as cities, municipalities and communities.
  • Application period: 20 July to 31 August 2021
