People rarely meet outside their usual social environment. This results in prejudices and fear of contact. With the project "Ineinander verstrickt", Franz KAfkA e.V. has set itself the task of overcoming existing boundaries, bringing people from different social groups together and breaking down resentment in this way. Although the workshop, in which new knitted pieces are created from old knitwear, is in principle open to all interested parties, the target groups of senior citizens and refugees are specifically addressed. In this way, "Ineinander verstrickt" also counteracts another challenge: The danger of social isolation of the target groups in focus, which has increased in recent months due to the pandemic.

The workshops, which took place on ten fixed dates from the end of August to the end of September 2021, were supported by the Adalbert-Raps-Stiftung with purchases of materials related to knitting and sewing.

Art for all - Street Art Strullendorf
"Art for all" - Streetart Strullendorf - iSo e.V./JAM

The project "Art for Everyone - Street Art Strullendorf", which focused on the design of a weathered wall in the car park of the MGH with graffiti, was launched in summer 2021 as a joint project of the Bamberg multi-generation house and JAM (community youth work of iSo e.V.). All people in the municipality of Strullendorf were called upon to participate, but the target group of senior citizens and young people was specifically addressed. Although these two generations support each other in many ways and can learn from each other, they hardly ever come into contact in everyday life; prejudices and fear of contact exist.

The cross-generational and cross-institutional cooperation as well as the joint design of the social space within the framework of the project "Art for All - Street Art Strullendorf" by iSo e.V./JAM could contribute to sustainably strengthening the sense of belonging and creating a fundamental understanding for the needs of the respective other generation. The summer action 2021 was supported by Adalbert-Raps-Stiftung with funding for the costs of materials and artists' fees.

Schnauz Circus - KJR Forchheim
Schnauz Circus - KJR Forchheim

The annual holiday programme "Circus Schnauz" of the KJR Forchheim is an inclusive camp with a circus educational background. This year, the integrative circus project took place from 1 August to 7 August 2021 on the grounds of the Dobenreuth community centre. The 50 participating children were looked after and supported by circus teachers and about 15 volunteers from the KJR Forchheim. The idea behind the project is as simple as it is effective: during the holiday programme, children and young people with and without disabilities experience a common everyday life, without having to address the various limitations of individuals. This makes it possible for all participants to perceive each other as an equal part of the group and to support each other without prejudice. The colourful circus world, which is new to all participants, also allows them - regardless of their handicaps, strengths and weaknesses - to try out new things, break out of old patterns and in this way discover their own strengths and abilities. They experience better self-awareness and strengthen their self-confidence.

Especially in view of the fact that children and young people with disabilities suffer greatly from the deficit approach and the prevailing social perception, and that there are still too few inclusive offers in everyday life as well as in leisure activities, the project "Zirkus Schnauz" of the KJR Forchheim makes a significant contribution. The Adalbert-Raps-Stiftung supported the implementation of this year's holiday offer with a proportionate subsidy of the project costs.
