Certified Continuing Education for Food and Hospitality Industries: Apply by January 22, 2023 for Course B of the 2023 Qualifying Round!

Future participants in the Spice Sommelier qualification have reason to rejoice: This year, Adalbert-Raps-Stiftung is again awarding three scholarships for Course B of the 2023 qualification, each worth 3,000 euros. The seminar series is organized starting from spring 2023 by the Genussakademie Bayern. Among the focal points of the five-month continuing education course are, in addition to conveying basic knowledge about herbs and spices, the areas of sensory analysis, communication, food paring, health effects and quality assurance. Professionals with completed training and corresponding work in the food sector (industry, craft, trade, gastronomy) can apply for the scholarships. The scholarship covers both the seminar fees and the costs for accommodation during the individual training blocks.

Adalbert Raps scholarships: Foundation expands spice expertise
In the spirit of the Kulmbach entrepreneur and founder Adalbert Raps, who devoted himself passionately to the subject of spices in his time, the central concern of Adalbert-Raps-Stiftung today is to preserve the knowledge of spices, to support its further development and to make it useful for people. For this reason, the foundation is once again awarding three scholarships worth 3,000 euros each to qualify as a spice sommelier.
Whether chefs, restaurant specialists, butchers, bakers, food or spice traders, direct marketers or specialists from the food industry: The training to become a spice sommelier at the Genussakademie Bayern is aimed at all interested parties who have completed training in the food trade, commerce and industry as well as the catering trade. In short, all those who deal with spices in their daily work should feel addressed. Multifaceted spices: What awaits the budding sommeliers
During the 15-day qualification, which is divided into five blocks and extends over a period of five months, participants learn to distinguish between, practically use and combine different types of spices and spice blends. The training to become a spice sommelier covers the topics of sensory analysis, spice science, quality assurance, food pairing and food completing, garden and wild herb science, healing and health effects, communication with guests and a themed dinner. Upon passing both the oral and written final examination, participants receive the "Spice Sommelier" certificate.
